HISTORY 1302

In this study guide, each lecture is briefly summarized.  You'll also find a bulleted list of subjects that you need to learn for the exams.

There's also a link for each book and information about what you need to study on those as well.

Notes should be more than raw data and facts.  You're going to need context for the information and reasons why dates, names, events are significant.

Every lecture tells a story, and this should be reflected in the information you take down.  Your notes should be active, not passive. They are your take on the lecture, your interpretation of the story you heard.

History requires a number of skills.  You have to interpret data, make judgements, think creatively.  And the end of the day, you have to know a lot of data.

These quizzes will test how well you remember important facts about US history.  Study like you would for an exam, take the quiz, and see how you did.  If you are struggling to remember the information, you need to rethink how you prepare.  These quizzes will not affect your class grade in any way.

Here you'll find information about everthing I ever did to prepare for history exams.  If my approach doesn't look like yours, don't worry. However, if your approach is producing low grades, consider shifting to mine.
